Launch of the 'new'
UK Snooker Association
The decline of the junior and amateur snooker scene in the UK over the last few years has been well documented and the ‘new’ UK Snooker Association has been set up to rejuvenate and develop grassroots junior & amateur snooker in the UK.
We are holding our inaugural UK Snooker Association Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sheffield – the home of Snooker – on 7 September, 2021.
Representatives from all UK Snooker Leagues & Clubs are invited to join us to learn about our innovative rejuvenation programme for grassroots Snooker, which incorporates a new SR Junior and SR Amateur development programme from League & Club level, all the way through to World Class Professional status.
League SR Junior & SR Amateur Academies
Leagues – the backbone of grassroots Snooker in the UK – have over the last few years suffered a significant decline in engagement & player numbers and extensive research has revealed that they have received no direct guidance or support around how to grow and develop the game in their local communities.
Our new, multi-faceted, development programme for grassroots Snooker has been very well received by the Officials of many UK Leagues (& Clubs) who have welcomed our support for setting up their own League ‘SR Junior Academy’ & ‘SR Amateur Academy’, supported by a new, innovative talent development & coaching structure from League/Club all the way through to National, UK & International level – in conjunction with the Ding Junhui Snooker Academy.
For the first time in the history of the game, Leagues and Clubs in England, the UK and Internationally are being invited to choose their own preferred League / Club Coach to be trained and accredited by SightRight – to focus on structured development of Junior and Amateur Snooker in their own League, Club and communities, in line with the Worlds No.1 Snooker Coaching System.
Snooker clubs will also be able to hold their own SR Junior Clubs (u13) which will develop their younger players to then feed into the SR Junior Academies.

Stephen Feeney, SightRight Founder – acclaimed as the “best technical coach in the World” by 6x World Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan at the Masters, 2020 – has coached more than 35 World Snooker Tour Professionals leading to 3 World Titles (2015, 2018, 2020) and a World Runner Up (2021) in the last 6 years, 38 Titles & over 30 Runner Ups.
Working with Stuart Bingham over the 5 year period (2011-2016) resulted in 9 Titles & a World Championship in 2015.
Stephen is the man behind the rejuvenation of Mark Williams’ career and 3rd World Title in 2018, fifteen years after his 2nd.
And his work with Ronnie O’Sullivan during the period 2018-2020 led to a record breaking 7th UK Championship, multiple World Records, a return to World No.1 and a 6th World Title.
Stephen Hendry credited his return to the Main Tour as mainly down to the influence of Stephen Feeney and SightRight.
UKSA, SightRight and the Ding Junhui Snooker Academy
Many junior and amateur snooker players dream of becoming snooker professionals, even world champions.
Most sporting institutues have National Academies in place to develop their talent and it’s a privilege to be partnering up with the Ding Junhui Snooker Academy to host our World Amateur Snooker, UK Snooker Association and International SR Junior and SR Amateur Academies.
During the conference, all delegates will enjoy a tour of the Ding Junhui Snooker Academy – the UK & Europe’s No.1 Snooker Academy with state of the art facilities. It is Ding Junhui’s UK practice home & host to many of the World’s top Chinese & European Snooker Stars.
